You can customize and save the hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts) as per your preference. Launch the User Preferences menu by clicking the gear icon from the top right corner followed by selecting the “Preferences” option, then select Hotkeysfrom the left menu.
Actions for which you can set hotkeys are grouped under several sections (Collection, Display Mode, etc.); click any group row to see the associated hotkeys. Then click on any Action from the list, which will populate a field where you can type any key combination as per your preference.
You will be prompted as shown in below screen capture to decide reassignment if the entered hotkey is already used for some other action.
“Cancel” will discard the changes and “Replace” will reassign the hotkey to the current action while removing the earlier assigned duplicate entry.
Confirm shortcut changes you made by clicking Save All Preferences. Changed shortcuts are marked with an asterisk (*).
Clicking Cancel All discards all recent setting changes and exits the User Preferences.
There are a few reserved (grayed out) hotkeys which you cannot customize.
Hotkeys that use a single letter (grapheme) key, Shift + grapheme key, punctuation keys, Navigation keys or a combination of Shift or Ctrl with Navigation keys are unsupported. Please try setting an other hotkey instead.
Numpad number keys and the standard number keys at the top of the keyboard are different for defining your customized keyboard hotkeys.
As a general rule, in MacOS the Command key in Apple Keyboards is used instead of the Windows keyboard Control key. So, e.g., the Windows hotkey Ctrl+G is in MacOS Cmd+G.
MacOS users may need to set hotkeys for certain actions which have no default hotkey because of unavailability of Home, End, Page Up, Page Down and Insert keys on Mac laptops or Mac keyboards without a Numeric Keypad.
Clicking Reset All to Default button will set all Hotkeys to their default values as follows.
